29 April 2021

The British Assistive Technology Association (BATA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyne Smith as our new Executive Director. Carolyne assumes the position following the retirement of the incumbent John Lamb.

Carolyne has worked with Assistive Technology (AT) and AT users for many years, she has a breadth of knowledge and experience of the sector, the main stakeholders and a detailed understanding of how AT positively impacts the lives of users.

We ar BATA plan to take the opportunity around Carolyne's appointment to re-engage our membership base in the build out of future workplans and project, while maintaining our ultimate objective to campaign for the rights and interests of those needing AT.

Welcoming the announcement of Carolyne's appointment, Rick Bell, Chair of BATA said " As we thank John for his years of service to BATA, we are pleased to announce Carolyne's appointment to the role. This is an exciting point of renewal and revitalisation for BATA, and Carolyne brings the skills, the drive and enthusiasm that is needed to lead our organisation and deliver on our objectives."

Carolyne added, " I am really excited about the opportunity and look forward to furthering the good work that has already been started by the Board and wider Council."
