BATA members offered free trial membership of European industry group

03 December 2019

European AT companies have banded together to form a European industry association for digital assistive technology called DATEurope.

The decision to set up the association was taken in November at the Assistive Technology Forum conference in Switzerland. DATEurope so far has 24 founder members and a launch event will take place on the March 20 2020 in Amsterdam.

The inaugural meeting will seek to set the priorities of the association and elect the Board and Steering Group. The cost to attend is 200 euros and only attendee organisations will have the unique opportunity to become founder members.

“AT companies in Europe operate in a fragmented market with countries pursuing different policies and operating under different rules,” said Co-Chair Antony Ruck.

“DATEurope gives suppliers an opportunity to come together, to learn from each other and to make their voice clearly heard by policymakers.

“The two key objectives of our new association are; firstly to enable the growth of commerce by facilitating relationships between publishers, manufacturers, service providers, resellers and developers, and secondly growth of the sector by internationally raising the awareness of AT and its benefits.”

Members of BATA will receive a year’s free trial membership of DATEurope, added Ruck, who is also Chair of BATA. Members interested in taking up the offer should contact him at antony.ruck@bataonline.org.
