How disability confident are you? This has been the focus of BATA's Workplace SIG these past months in the lead up to the highly successful "Is Your Organisation Disability Confident ?" conference.
There is a government-sponsored scheme which can be found at Disability Confident Scheme. Details of the scheme can be found there but also Jannie King has produced this overview document of the scheme to help see what the different parts of it is. You can access this below.
Overview of the Disability Confident Scheme
So what do we mean about being disability confident? It's having the culture and the practise that gives you disabled employees and their employers the confidence to know they are giving equal rights to their disabled employees. In the words of the government website :-
"Disability Confident is creating a movement of change, encouraging employers to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people."
